How I did my nails:

I used the smallest rhinestones in these pics.

Apply base coat. Let dry.

Color of your choice. Let dry.

Apply top coat and place the rhinestones where you would like them to go.

Apply top coat again and you're done.

Beauty 101: Cleaning Your Brushes.

Cleaning your makeup brushes is very important!
It should be done every 1-2 weeks. Brushes used with cream or liquid products should be cleaned after each use. This will help them last longer and keep bacteria away.
I know most of us get really lazy and keep putting it off but it's something that must get done.
I'm not going to lie.. I've gone way over a month without cleaning my brushes before.
Ooo she nasty!
I have so many brushes and it just gets annoying but I do spot clean them with a brush cleaner.
Now I clean them about every 3 weeks.(I'm working on it..)

Oh and if you use your brushes to do someone elses makeup you better have cleaned the brushes before you used them on that persons face and right after.

Let's think about it...
When you apply your makeup with a dirty brush you are actually reapplying

the oils from your face
old product buildup
the dirt your brushes have collected over time
and all the bacteria that's growing in them because of this

Not only is that disgusting but it will also cause your face to break out.
Remember to keep them clean!

Here is how I get it done...

What you will need:

-Dirty Brushes(obviously)

- Baby Shampoo

- Extra Virgin Olive Oil

- Clean Bowl(or something to pour the shampoo into)

- Clean Towel

- Paper Towel
- Sink

1. Squeeze some shampoo into bowl and dip your brush.

2. Wet brush and work the shampoo into the bristles to create a lather.

Rinse and repeat if necessary.

Lay brush down flat and shampoo the rest.

You never know just how dirty your brushes are until you see this oozing out of them lol.

The correct way to hold your brush:

**It is important to hold your brushes with the bristles down when cleaning.

Do not get water in the ferrule(metal part). This will cause your brush to fall apart over time.

3. With warm water running from faucet, rinse brushes until completely clean.

Squeeze out excess water and reshape them. Do not pull on bristles.

4. Fold a clean towel and lay brushes flat to air dry.
Once they are dry just fluff them up and you're ready to go. =)

What's the olive oil for?

For those hard to clean brushes that you use to apply cream or liquid products(like foundation, lip, and eyeliner brushes). This will help loosen and break up the product that's built up in your brush.

Pour some olive oil onto a paper towel.

Run your brush back and forth until most of the makeup is removed.

Then you can begin the shampoo process.

My thoughts:

The first time I used this product I ended up with a scratch on my forehead. Not really sure how that happened but I suggest using this on low speed with very light pressure until you get used to it.

After that little incident there were no more scratches.

I've been using this 1-2 times per week and have been left with soft, smooth, glowing skin.

Since you're using a deeper form of exfoliation make sure to use a moisturizer or anti aging serum right after to restore the moisture in your skin.

I can't really tell you how well this works on fine lines and wrinkles since I don't have any. I also can't compare this to professional microdermabrasion... sorry!

I can say that I actually do like this product. I'm usually left with dark spots on my face after a bad breakout and this has helped speed up the process of getting my skin back to normal. =)

FYI This product does not spin. It vibrates.

I usually prefer a facial cleansing tool that spins because I feel like it's doing more work.. but when it comes to this microdermabrasion system the vibrating alone works just fine.

Turns out they're Isabel Marant sneakers which have a hidden 2 inch wedge.

Although I really hate the whole sneaker shoe thing.. I die for these.

How to use:

Simply attach a disposable pad to the attachment head.
Hold under running water to activate cleansing pad.
Turn on by pressing the power button. Choose your speed then gently massage over face. Avoid use in delicate eye area.

I loved how the Neutrogena Wave Sonic Cleanser left my face feeling soft and smooth.
This product is very affordable and easy to use. The pads don't need much water but they do take a while to foam up and they don't foam as much as I expected them to.
Besides that small issue, this power cleanser works really well. It's a great exfoliator yet gentle on the skin which surprised me. It even gives my skin a nice glow. =)

This is my new favorite gold eyeshadow! I'm in love with it.

Pretty when applied dry but amazing when applied wet. It's more of a warmer bronzey gold than a true gold. I don't have any other gold shades like this one so I would def. suggest buying it. You will love it!

3D Holographic Nail Lacquer

I really love the holographic effect of this nail polish. Even though we're dealing with glitters, this nail polish feels smooth to the touch. You get full coverage in 2-3 coats. A pretty gold but I'm not so sure yet how I feel about this color on myself.

I recieved some prodcts from Pari Beauty to review. =)
I haven't heard of Pari Beauty before this but it's always exciting to try out a new line of makeup.

Brush Cleaner, Black Glitter Liner, Lipstick "LS58"

"This quick drying brush cleaner is an essential for every makeup kit to keep your brushes fresh and clean."

I tried this on some of my dirtiest brushes and it did a pretty good job. This brush cleaner works really well and dries very quickly. I've been using this between deep cleanings.

When I first used this I found the smell to be a little strong but now not so much. Maybe I've just gotten used to it lol.

"Lipsticks in a vast range of colors and textures to beautify your lips. An enhanced formulation with Vitamin E to keep lips moisturized and protected. Available in matte, cream, sheer and pearl finishes."

I got this lipstick in "LS58". (They don't go by names)
It did keep my lips moisturized..no dry or chapped feeling while I had it on.
I'm not really sure if this is a pearl or sheer lipstick since to me it seems to be a little of both.
Which brings me to my 1 issue... the site doesn't state what the finish of each lipstick is.
When choosing a lipstick it's very important to know the finish. If you don't know the finish, you don't really know what you're ordering til you see it in person.

This was the product I was most excited for but after trying it out I was disappointed. =(

I was expecting a beautiful black glitter eyeliner. Instead I got an eyeliner that barely sparkles at all.

It looks completely matte when applied with maybe 2 or 3 tiny specs of glitter poking through.

I did find out that if you rub it lightly a few times the glitter will start to show.. but as you rub, the liner gets lighter. (pictured above)

I'm not sure if all the glitter eyeliners have the same issue or if it's just this black one.

This product does exactly everything that it claims to do which I was very happy about.

Unlike many colorful drugstore liners,you won't need to continuously rub this over your eye to see the color. With one very light sweep you will have gorgeous metallic eyes that last all day long.

This metallic eyeliner comes in 5 colors: Silver, Gold, Black, Brown, and Aqua

You can find these on the Milani site for $7.99.

I was hoping to find them for less while I was at CVS. That was a fail($7.49).. but I just saw them on the Walgreens site for $6.49. =D

I can't wait to buy the others!

The scent of the pink grapefruit line is delish and a great pick-me-up in the mornings.

I always get scared using a new cleanser on my face but I've been using this for a few weeks now and so far so good! My face seems to be under control and I haven't had any major breakouts which is great.

I was only using the gel cleanser but some mornings it would make my face feel dry and tight.. so I switched to using the cream cleanser in the morning and gel cleanser at night. This way my face would feel moisturized in the morning after washing. Using the gel cleanser at night helps remove all the oil, dirt, and makeup leaving my face feeling fresh.

I also have been using the foaming scrub once or twice a week. It's gentle on the skin and works pretty well but I still love my St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

Mini Lesson!!

While we're speaking of cleansers I figured I would give you guys a mini lesson.

So if you don't know.. now you know! ;)

Cream Cleansers are best suited for people with dry skin. Why? They're creamy. They have ingredients in them that help keep your face from feeling that horrible tightness after washing. You should rinse this off with a wash cloth just to make sure you haven't left any residue on your face.

For combination skin, depending on how oily or dry your face is, you can use anything from a cream cleanser to a gel cleaner.

For oily skin a gel cleanser would be best. They take away the dirt and oil without drying your face.

If your cleanser is over drying your skin then it's time to find one that's a little more gentle.

You may think this would be good for oily skin but it's actually not. You're stripping all the natural oils from the skin making it feel dehydrated. This will only make your sebaceous glands produce more oil causing a grease fest.

Hmm I'm surprised I actually learned something in school lol.. and I hope you learned something too!

e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer vs. UDPP

I recently purchased the e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer and decided to put it to the test against my Urban Decay Primer Potion.

What e.l.f. says:

The formula glides on easily and disappears instantly to create longer lasting, crease-proof eyeshadow. The Mineral Eyeshadow Primer is designed to be used with your favorite Mineral Eyeshadow to provide ultimate staying power for beautiful and vibrant color that lasts."

The price: $3

One thing I noticed right away is that the consistency of UDPP is creamy while the e.l.f. Primer is more liquidy. This makes it very easy to spread and you will only need a small amount to get the job done.

Both primers give eyeshadows the same amount of intensity(I didn't notice a difference) and blending is rather easy.

Although there isn't much difference in how vibrant they keep your eyeshadows, UDPP definitely has a better hold.

I swatched both primers on my hand with an eyeshadow over each and then rubbed them with a tissue. The e.l.f. swatch disappeared while the UDPP was hard to rub off. I did this with mineral and regular eyeshadows and got the same results.

The test:
I applied UDPP to one eye and e.l.f. to the other.
Then, I did my makeup and waited to see just how well the e.l.f. would last through out the day without creasing.

10 hrs:

All of these pics look exactly the same lol.

As you can see the e.l.f. Primer is still looking good at the 10 hr mark.
After 10 hrs it did start creasing and around 11 hrs my eyeshadow somehow got onto my eyeliner.

Urban Decay claims their primer lasts 24 hrs which I wouldn't doubt. There have been a few nights when I've fallen asleep with my makeup on and my eyes were still looking perfect the next day.

The e.l.f. Primer will probably work even better on someone who doesn't have oily lids like mine.
I'll use this when I don't plan on wearing my makeup for long periods of time and pull out my UDPP for the serious stuff. This way my UDPP will last me a lot longer.

Since this is a $3 primer I would suggest that everyone try it out and see if it works for you.
It's a lot better than spending $19.

How To Repair A Broken Nail.

It always sucks to break a nail but I'm going to share a nail repair secret with you!

I've been doing this for a while now and it works better than anything else I've tried.

So let's get started....

What you will need:

- tea bag

- clear nail polish

- scissors

- tweezers

The broken nail:

1. Cut your tea bag open and empty it out.

2. Cut out a piece big enough to cover the split.

3. Paint entire nail with clear nail polish and quickly apply your strip with tweezers.

4. Using tweezers, press the strip down into the clear polish.

5. Apply a second coat of clear polish.

6. Once that's dry you can paint your nails.

They will be looking as good as new!

A gorgeous bright pink nail polish with gold shimmer for only $2? Umm can it get any better??

I looove a bright pink nail polish during the Spring/Summer seasons.

For the past 2 years I've been crazy for Sinful Colors "Pink"(neon matte) but now this one might be my new fave.

I was a little hesitant buying this polish.

I saw it had shimmer and I thought this color would come out somewhat sheer but to my surprise it didn't. After 2 coats it covers really nicely.

Sinful Colors "Cream Pink" is a definite must have!

Can we get more creative with the names though?

I think both of my favorite colors deserve something better than "Pink" and "Cream Pink"...

Let me just say that this is my first Sigma brush and I can definitely see what all the hype is about. =)

The packaging of this brush is a winner for me.

I'm a sucker when it comes to packaging! Even though my color of choice is obviously pink, I can't deny my love for this brush. I mean.. who wouldn't want to whip out a fab brush named after the iconic Miss Taylor?

But besides looking cute, it actually works great.

With this brush it's easy to buff out your makeup for a flawless face and the bristles feel super soft against your skin. You could even use this to apply your liquid foundation since the brush is synthetic.
Most important-> It doesn't shed!
Right after washing there were a few random hairs.. but since then zero shedding. I'm very happy about that.

Oh, and no need to worry about the bristles getting ruined.
Because this brush is retractable, the bristles won't lose shape and will stay free of dust and dirt.

Closing up this brush is easy.. just push the sliding piece up and put on the lid.

A great brush for you're makeup bag and perfect for traveling.

The one tiny downfall...
Washing this brush is pretty easy but it does take a long time to dry.
The drying time doesn't bother me at all but it might for some.

IMATS Haul!

Time for a closer look at the goodies I bought at IMATS. =)

The first thing I went on a hunt for was lashesss!

These were 7 for $10 which is an amazing deal.

I couldn't find a name anywhere on the booth but since they came in a Nigel Beauty Emporium bag then that would be my guess lol.

Next up: Brushes!

Left to Right- Angled eyeliner brush: $1, Fluff brush: $3, Foundation brush: $5.50, Foundation brush#2: $3, Angled contour brush: $6.50

All of these are from CiCi Fashion Brush.

I checked each one for shedding while at the booth but apparently not well enough. Both the fluff brush and contour brush had major shedding so I washed them to see if that would help. They still shed a few hairs here and there but nowhere near as much as before.

LASplash Cosmetics.

"Purple Splash" mascara, "Sparkling Crystallina" glitter, "Fushia Fusion" and "Rainy Daze" eye shadows

I don't remember the prices.. I think they were $5 or $6 each or 2 for something.

The mascara was a free gift but I haven't tried it yet.

Swatches:

Rainy Daze is mostly matte with very little shimmer and Fushia Fusion is a shimmery shadow.

I'm officially in love with LASplash cosmetics. All the shadows were eye catching which made it extremely hard to decide which to buy.

There was a girl working at the booth with gorgeous glittery eyeliner.

She used Sparkling Crystallina over a black eyeliner which is why I had to buy it.

It looks much better in person.

Jessie's Girl Cosmetics.

"Electric Rose" Liquid Glass lip gloss, "Ice" and "Tangerine" Liquid Crystal lip glosses

Electric Rose was $3 or $4 and the Liquid Crystal glosses were $4.

Swatches:

Tangerine and Ice

Depending on how the light hits.. these glosses can either look clear or like they're glowing.

Tangerine shines in a glowing orange and green.. and Ice in blue and purple.

These would probably be fun to wear over a lipstick.

Now this is my new favorite lip gloss.

It's the most gorgeous thing EVER!

I tried to get you the most accurate swatch but it looks 10 times better in person.

This bright pink gloss is filled with tons of pink sparkle. Think Dorothy's ruby slippers on your lips but in pink of course lol. Great for a fun night out.

Sometimes glitter in glosses can feel scratchy on your lips but this one is perfect.

I've only tried it on to see what it looks like. I still don't know how well it stays on so hopefully it doesn't disappoint!

My IMATS Adventure!

Since this post is going to be full of pics I'll make this short.

IMATS NYC was great!!

I went with my sister and friend and we had so much fun.

It didn't have as many exhibitors as the others but we still enjoyed it.

Hopefully next years will be bigger and better. I can't wait! =)

I bought some goodies from Jesse's Girl, LASplash, and CiCi Fashion Brush.

I'll be doing another post with a closer look at the stuff I got.

DIY Haircut with CreaClip.

With the CreaClip you can now cut your own hair at home and look fab each time.

The clip acts as a hair cutting guide and has a built-in rotating level so you will always end up with an even cut.

It can be used on curly hair but it is recommended that you straighten your hair for best results.

CreaClip costs $29.99 + Shipping.

The white clip is for long hair and layers. The blue clip is for bangs and short cuts.

My hair was in major need of a trim. The last time I had one was in July(bad me!).

So I was lucky enough to get to test out the CreaClip.

I was a little scared that my hair would end up looking a mess but surprisingly this was very easy to use.

I wanted my hair cut into a V shape in the back with some layers. I didn't want to take too much length off so I started close to the ends and worked my way up.

What you need for this cut:

large CreaClip, sharp haircutting scissors, and a comb or brush

I still can't believe how easy this was!

The Good:

easy to use

has a built-in level for even cuts

The Bad:

The only bad thing I would say about this product is the price.

I feel that $29.99 + shipping is a little much for 2 plastic clips...

but I guess in the end it's worth it since you will be saving money on future haircuts.

Now, I know the CreaClip is going to help you save money on cuts but I suggest you stick with a simple trim or cut and leave the advanced stuff to the pros just in case you have a slip up.

We definitely would not want that.

They are so smooth and highly pigmented!

They're also larger than many eyeshadows.
Compared to a MAC eyeshadow in size..

Add a little glitter to your life!

I decided to finally break out the jar of silver glitter that sits all the way in the back of my makeup drawer.

I hate the mess that it makes but it just looks soo pretty!

Perfect for the holidays =]

I'm looking pretty tan in these pics

either i ODed on the face powder or it's the lighting.. maybe both..

whatever it is.. i kinda like it lol

For the eyeliner:

Unless you have a good glitter eyeliner.. here's what i did..

I lined my eyes with Wet n Wild creme liner. (This will be your guide on where to place the glitter)

I took an eyeliner brush, dipped it into some Duo eyelash glue(not too much), and spread it over the creme liner.

With the same brush i took some glitter and patted it onto the glue.

Glitter perfect eyes!

You can also do this look with a soft pink/nude lip..

less dramatic but it looks just as fab

This will most likely be the look that i'll be doing for Christmas =]
